„Times have changed”, he tells us. „Who would have guessed I'd ever see
this day coming, when twenty-seven women from all over the county
would practice such an old trade? At least they have understood that
hunters are not only some evil persons shooting animals. They are entitled
to maintain an order of things given by God. That's how my father taught
me things should be done when he first handed me a rifle, so that's how I
teach others as well. It's such a shame that tradition is slowly fading away.
The hunt means staying active and bonding new friendships.”
Could this be the reason why Mr. Vintilă, member of the Romanian
Academy, believes that „The hunt, had it not existed, would have had to
be created“?
Legend or truth, it also applies to fishing. There are more than 7000
fishermen in Timiş and this is a much appreciated sport in this area, since
the ponds are filled with crucian carp, catfish, carp and pickerel.
Fishermen's heaven, that's how they call our county's lakes. No wonder
that Romania's second delta can also be found here.
