Oasis of relaxation for anxious fingers in pulling the trigger
and for fishing lovers; an inside view on recreational
opportunities of Timiş county.

As the birth of a forest lies within an acorn, the birth of a hunter starts with a
hunt. Our county's forests guard many mixes of hardwood and coniferous
trees at over 800 meters of altitude, triumphantly looking over their smaller
fellow beech and durmast trees that can hardly reach their roots. There
are still many game animals to be found. Under the shadow of the woods
and on the banks of the lakes one can find bucks, boars, pheasants,
rabbits, quails and ducks. If we are heading towards higher grounds, we
can also find bears or even lynxes. The silence of the wind-blown leaves is
only broken by fights between foxes and jackals, wreaking havoc among
the other game animals.

We have learned all these from Mr. Laichici, a local of Buziaş who is the
oldest hunter in Timiş Hunters Association. He is 92 years old and, as far as
he remembers, the first contact he had with a rifle was even before he had
his first contact with a fountain pen. During harsh winters or flash floods in
the past, hunters were the first stability and survival LANDMARKS as they
provided food for all the members of their community. Each member used
to receive an equal share and this is still the spirit they're trying to pass on to
the younger hunters in the county, the ones who have just come of age.
