Romania's first city liberated from the communist regime has built its
courage to shout out for democracy up to the point where democracy
answered back through centuries of premieres that enabled it to stand
out in its country and worldwide.

Any Romanian knows that Timişoara is Europe's first city with electric street
lighting. Hop lovers will not miss the fact that Romania's oldest beer factory
can also be found here and they will invite you on a tramway ride. It's for
sure on the same line where, back in 1899, the first electric tramway in our
country rode for the first time. If the weather is fine and you would rather
walk along the banks of Bega river, you have all the chances to race
against one of the small boats that sail on Romania's first sailable canal.

Fewer people know that this is also the place where the first laser heart
surgery was performed. Perhaps the Medical Students could tell you all
about it, as they'll confess that the reason behind their choice to study in
Timişoara relies on the opportunity they have to learn from doctors who
have performed the first stem cells transplant.
