“Banat is and has always been a place with good food. Our cuisine is
mostly derived from the Austro-Hungarian Empire's cuisine. It was
from the Hungarians and the Germans that we took the cabbage
with sausages, the zucchini “ciuspais” food with yogurt, the pork-
based foods; the goulash is also very appreciated in Banat, the
“gomboţi” dumplings with plums, all kinds of steaks, pickles, but also
noodles “zupa” soup, beans sour soups “ciorbe” with gammon” as
chef Călin Lump, winner of the 2011 Banat Cooking Cup, is telling us.
